Israel Palestine Conflict Explained: From Start to End

The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is a complex and long-standing dispute over land and sovereignty. The conflict has its roots in the late 19th century, when the Zionist movement began to advocate for the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine. The Zionist movement was based on the belief that the Jewish people had a historical right to Palestine, which they had inhabited for centuries before being expelled by the Romans in the 2nd century AD.

The Palestinian people, on the other hand, believe that they have a right to self-determination on their own land. They argue that the Zionist movement is a colonial project that seeks to dispossess them of their homeland.

The conflict escalated in the early 20th century, when the Ottoman Empire collapsed and Palestine was placed under British rule. The British Mandate for Palestine was established in 1922, with the goal of creating a homeland for the Jewish people. However, the British Mandate also included provisions for protecting the rights of the Palestinian people.

In 1947, the United Nations voted to partition Palestine into two states, one Jewish and one Arab. The Palestinians rejected the partition plan, and war broke out in 1948 between the newly established state of Israel and its Arab neighbors.
