USS Bismarck Sea - CVE-95 (Escort Carrier)
USS Bismarck Sea (CVE-95), a Casablanca-class escort carrier, was named after the Battle of the Bismarck Sea. She played a role in the Philippines campaign and the Iwo Jima landings during World War II. Tragically, on February 21, 1945, she was sunk by two kamikaze attacks off Iwo Jima, resulting in the loss of 318 crew members and making her the last U.S. aircraft carrier to be sunk due to enemy action in the war.
