Suspension Testing Primal MT w/ Losi 5T Gold 6.8lb Rate Rear Springs

I'm having so much fun with the Primal RC 1/5 scale monster truck. I know many thought it wouldn't be something that would get much use, but I run it all the time. I'm also spending more time trying to get it tuned how I want - something I only do with my all my RCs. As much as I loved this out of the box...the suspension was really stiff.

I've moved the suspension up and angled it a little bit in at the top, drilled the piston holes a little bit bigger, and now changed the lower springs on all 4 shocks to the Losi 5T Gold 6.8lb rate rear springs. The last thing I did was remove all pre-load by screwing them all the way to the top (though I may move the rear ones down a little). There is a bit of bounce/spring still, but it's different. The suspension is working. Honestly, I don't want the truck to hit and stick. I'm not racing it. I want some bounce for slap wheelies. Having movement in the suspension will hopefully keep the shock shafts from bending.

Also remember that a lot of the weight of this vehicle is shocks and tires which ride below the suspension. The only cushion for that is going to be the tires.

This has definitely been one of the most fun RCs I've owned. There's just nothing like it. I'll keep tweaking it. The one thing I want is to make a backflip container and see if there is enough low end to do a backflip. If it can do that.....I'm happy with it stock. :)
