The best way to carry a firearm in anything without a belt is te Ulti clip solution. It utilizes a compression style clamp design that grips down on the fabric of your pants/shorts and not on the belt. This allowed me to continue to carry using the same tier 1 concealed holster in gym shorts, sweat pants, and golf shorts. With this solution over the traditional Elastic band holsters I can carry with one in the chamber and maintain the same draw stroke.
