The lawyer of Metropolitan Longin of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has been killed by poisoning.
His other lawyer has been arrested. Now, Metropolitan Longin has no one to defend him.
He is the abbot of the Assumption Monastery in Bancheny, Chernovtsy region. That monastery is home to over 400 disabled children whom Metropolitan Longin has adopted. Disabled adults also live there.
In 2008, he was granted the status of the Hero of Ukraine for his care for so many disabled children. Metropolitan Longin was orphaned as a child, too.
