election weekend
Voters are being asked to answer the call to register and check their details ahead of the national and provincial elections next year.
Registration ensures them the ability to make their mark.
Michael Hendrikse, Western Cape provincial officer for the Electoral Commission of South Africa, explains the process and importance of voter registration.
Citizens must take their Smartcard identity document, green barcoded ID book or temporary ID certificate to the voting station at the weekend.
Voting stations, Department of Home Affairs offices and IEC offices across the country will be open Saturday November 18 and Sunday November 19, from 8am until 5pm.
Voters can also register online via www.register tovote.elections.org.za.
For more information send a sms to 32810 (cost R1); WhatsApp text “Hi” to 060 088 000 or the call centre on 080 011 8000.
