Movie-goers in India were left terrified on Sunday after a group of fans set off fireworks inside a cinema after Bollywood star Salman Khan appeared on screen. Footage shared to social media shows dozens of people erupting in panic as fireworks were lit inside the theatre in Malegaon, Maharashtra.

Video appears to show fans waiting for the appearance of movie star Khan on the screen before pyrotechnics are launched into the air. People can then be seen dashing for the theatre exit in fear as the dark room lights up with orange explosions and sparks flying everywhere. Both screams and cheers can be heard in the background as the unexpected light show prompts the stoppage of the film.
