The world has never lacked for a troubling incident or cause for concern. But there are times when the drumbeats reach a crescendo, and in the case of war, the potential for large scale conflict seems to rise when a hegemon begins declining, and rival powers see their opportunity to increase their share. Ray Dalio, having made his success running the world’s largest global macro hedge fund and authoring several books on the major forces shaping world history, recently raised his estimate on the chance of World War III occurring in the next two years from 35% to 50%. Given how high the stakes are in that outcome, those are not the most encouraging odds. Tonight, we are joined by returning guest Lance to discuss the recent conflicts in the Middle and Near East, as well as the potential for such in the Far East and the general escalation amongst the nuclear armed superpowers.
