Ferdinand Tönnies, a German sociologist, is known for his concept of "Gemeinschaft" and "Gesellschaft," which relate to the idea of the human will in the context of social structures.

1. Gemeinschaft: This concept represents a traditional, community-based society where social relationships are characterized by strong, emotional bonds and a sense of shared will. In Gemeinschaft, people are united by common values, norms, and a strong sense of togetherness.

2. Gesellschaft: In contrast, Gesellschaft refers to a more modern, society-based structure where relationships are driven by individual self-interest and rationality. The will in Gesellschaft is based on contractual and utilitarian interactions rather than emotional connections.

Tönnies' ideas about the will and these two types of societies provide a framework for understanding how different social structures influence human behavior and interactions.
