Review Lesson: LOOK around before barging out the door like its freak'n Maple Street. (Ref: "South Canyons Approach." See that little dot?)
At least large crowds of black birds the size of ... well, turkeys ... tends to draw the eye and backed in quick enough. Yes, many people see flocks walk through their yards in cities (ref some friends in Florida) but rare for me, esp in the wild. This flock was in the compound yard until some unseen signal had them march over to adjacent field. There to chill out 50 yards out. Barely glanced over as I eventually had to start the SUV and leave on errands.
They were still in field 90 minutes later. Now all in old garden area in front of barn.
Notes:
1. Obviously the same flock first seen last week ("Difference Between Cows & Bulls") that's working this looooong creek valley.
2. Flock was pretty chill then as I passed. Contributed to their calm now, I guess.
3. Whoa. Montana Field Guide ref again. Those are HENS? Gotta spot a big gobbler!
