Darius playthrough | Konami Arcade collection

AKA Sagaia in the US. This is the arcade version played on the Darius collection on the Switch. This is called the “old version” because the bosses upgrade when you collect power ups so the power ups become useless against them. I wish I knew earlier so I could choose the easier going “new version”.
I became a fan of Darius after completing the second one on the Saturn and then the Megadrive. This first one is insanely hard. The levels aren’t too insane but some of the bosses are. When you die you don’t continue where you left off, you have to start from a checkpoint so you always have to do the full boss without dying.
The weapon upgrades come very slowly, and to get anything decent, you have to do the whole game without dying which is an insane task. But if you don’t do that, you have no chance of beating any later levels. It asks way too much.
The last boss is crazy hard. It just felt like luck if I dodged some of the attacks because I couldn’t possibly have enough reflexes to dodge a lot of them. I had to save state every few seconds and it took forever to defeat. I can’t see how a human could ever do this legit.
The game is really good though and you feel like a boss when you make it through a load of intense bullets.Show more
