USS Windham Bay (CVE-92), a Casablanca-class escort carrier, was launched in March 1944 and commissioned in May. Her significant contributions include serving as a replenishment and transport carrier during the Invasion of Iwo Jima and the Battle of Okinawa. After World War II, she participated in Operation Magic Carpet, repatriating U.S. servicemen. Reactivated for the Korean War, she was recommissioned as an aircraft transport and continued service until 1959. However, due to changing naval priorities, she was decommissioned again in January 1959 and eventually sold for scrapping in February 1961 in Japan. She received three battle stars for her World War II service.
