"The Champion" (1915) stars Charlie Chaplin as a down-and-out tramp who, while ambling with his faithful bulldog, serendipitously discovers a "good luck" horseshoe. Coincidentally, he stumbles upon a boxing training camp advertising for a resilient sparring partner. Witnessing others endure defeat, Charlie decides to try his luck and places the horseshoe in his boxing glove. Despite his unassuming appearance, Charlie's unconventional tactics and the fortuitous charm within his glove enable him to triumph in the ring. The film is a comedic exploration of the underdog prevailing against the odds, as Charlie, armed with his wit and newfound luck, emerges as "The Champion." Through Chaplin's signature physical comedy and slapstick humor, the film not only entertains but also conveys a timeless message of resilience and unexpected triumphs in the face of adversity.
