Heavy fighting rages near main Gaza hospital

Health officials and individuals trapped inside Gaza’s largest hospital have refuted Israel’s assertions of assisting in evacuations on Sunday.

They claim that fighting persists just outside the facility, where incubators remain idle due to a lack of electricity, and essential supplies are dwindling.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected calls for an immediate cease-fire unless it includes the release of nearly 240 hostages captured by Hamas during the October 7 rampage that triggered the ongoing conflict.

A day after Netanyahu declared that Israel was deploying its “full force” to end Hamas’ 16-year rule in Gaza, residents reported intense airstrikes and shelling, including in the vicinity of Shifa Hospital, the Associated Press reported.
