Practice doesn't make perfect.

It makes permanent.

What does that mean?

It means that when we practice something, we are ingraining it into our brains and bodies.

It becomes a part of us and it's hard to change it.

So, if we're practicing something that's not quite right or not the best way to do it, that's what we'll continue to do.

In order to truly improve and reach our full potential, we need to constantly challenge ourselves and seek out new and novel ideas.

It's the counter-intuitive thinking, counter-narratives that keep us engaged and open to growth.

These are the things that push us out of our comfort zones and force us to evolve.

But too often, we get stuck in our ways and accept the status quo.

We practice the wrong thing.

We believe that if we keep doing the same thing over and over again, we will eventually become experts in our field.

But that's not the case.

Instead, it's the willingness to take risks and try new things that sets true experts apart.

So let's break free from the status quo and strive for true progress.

Let's embrace the idea that practice doesn't make perfect, it makes permanent and that's why we need to be mindful of what we practice.

And let's actively seek out novelty in our work and in our lives.
