In 1857, a group of settlers from Arkansas were attacked in southern Utah on their way to California. The Mormon leadership in Utah used the Paiute people as a weapon for their unsavory intentions. The unsuspecting members of the Baker-Fancher group were ambushed as they rested in Mountain Meadows, Utah. This event was hidden by the Mormon church until a whistleblower brought this heinous act to light. The church evaded justice with only John D. Lee paying for his participation in the betrayal. The Mountain Meadows Massacre is an evil act of betrayal and will forever be a part of Horrible History.
