Land protected for Florida panthers

Florida panthers are endangered, partially because they often get hit and killed on the road. The Nature Conservancy is offering some protection in the form of 460-acres in Glades County, along the northern bank of the Caloosahatchee River. Last spring, a female panther was found north of the river for the first time in 40 years. Some think this suggests the population is evolving and growing. Still, only about 230 Florida panthers remain in the wild.
