When we accepted Jesus, He gave us a new spirit and a new heart, and we became a new creature. But more than that, we became a part of the Body of Christ, His Church.
Now that we are a part of His Body, the Church, He wants to see us spiritually led, spiritually fed, and spiritually healthy.
If a pathogen, in our case sin or unrighteousness were to enter one part of the body, it will begin to grow and it will multiply, like a cancer and it will spread into other parts of the body.
And once the Body has become infected, and the spirit becomes immune to these pathogens, Jesus the great physician gets involved and begins to cut out and remove the cancer.
