Combat work of mortar units

Reconnaissance of the paratroopers received information about the enemy’s consolidation in one of the areas in the zone of responsibility of units of the Airborne Forces. Detection of the enemy is carried out using an unmanned aerial vehicle. Also, thanks to the adjustment of fire by UAV units, high speed and accuracy of hitting targets is achieved. The commander receives a picture in real time.

After receiving the target coordinates, the mortar crew literally has just a few minutes to occupy a firing position, calculate the initial data for firing and fire the first shot. After the first shot, the crew begins to work like a well-oiled mechanism, where each artillery paratrooper knows his maneuver perfectly.

Mortar crews of the Airborne Forces fire to suppress firing positions and destroy strongholds, as well as to destroy hidden enemy personnel at a range of up to 7,000 metres. Skillful actions of personnel under the leadership of experienced commanders simultaneously ensure a high degree of destruction and safety for the personnel of the mortar unit.

Firing points are calculated in advance based on enemy targets. It only takes a few minutes for the crew to bring the mortar into action, after which, with rapid fire with adjustments, the mortars strike and destroy the enemy infantry at the strong point. Whenever possible, crews reduce the distance to the target in order to ensure they reach it. They work on the front line, remaining elusive to the enemy.

82-mm mortars are designed to destroy enemy personnel located openly or in shelters, fire weapons, command and observation posts, weapons and military equipment. Firing from mortars does not require special preparation of positions before firing
