Surgeon says Gaza's main hospital has lostpower and is under constant fire - BBC News

Surgeon Marwan Abu Saada said Gaza's largesthospital, Al-Shifa, has run out of water, food and electricity.

The surgeon, who works at Al-Shifa hospital, addedthat the intensive care unit at the facility had beenstruck and was damaged.

The BBC cannot verify what caused any damage to thehospital.

When asked about the surgeon's claims this morningabout the ICU and shooting near the hospital, theIsraeli Defence Forces said it couldn't confirm "specificmilitary activity currently under way", butacknowledged "ongoing intense fighting againstHamas in the vicinity of the area in question".

The Israeli military has repeatedly accused Hamas ofoperating from tunnels underneath Al-Shifa hospital,which Hamas denies.
