Chapter 3: Effect of Thought on Health and the Body

The author emphasises here that the mind feeds the body, the body being a loyal servant to the will of the mind.

‘Good thoughts lead to healthy habits’ meaning once we start seriously considering beneficial alterations we could make in our lives, the more likely we are to actualise these positive habits into daily routines. With consistency, this produces physical effects on our body, and as long as our thoughts and plans stay clear and progressive, they will produce good effects on one’s health. Positively focused thoughts, build up mind and then the body, making its graceful, yet strong, beautiful yet resilient.

But, falling prey to our negative, unlawful thoughts causes the body to sink into disease and decay, therefore bringing forth bad effects. While we might think constant analysis of risks keeps us safer, always thinking about what could go wrong can reproduce itself as a self-fulfilling prophecy. So, man must aim to keep his thoughts of fear, anxiety and uncertainty at bay for the sake of his state of mind and his subsequent future bodily state.

In this way, thought is the fountain of vitality and action.
