Operation Mockingbird: The MainScreaMedia

In the 1940's the CIA created the OPC/Office of Policy Coordination. It was organized and concentrated on "Propaganda" to influence America. In 1948 Operation Mockingbird was established, with The Washington Post being pulled in to run the project within the industry. Others were recruited who had worked for the military intelligence during the war. It appears by the early 1950's, respected members of The New York Times, Newsweek, CBS and other communication vehicles were owned by this department.
Further details of Operation Mockingbird was revealed as a result of Frank Church investigations (A select committee to study governmental operations with respect to intelligence activities) in 1975.
