TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian hospital area in Gaza on Thursday 9 November 2023 evening local time was suddenly attacked by bombing by the Israeli military.

As reported by Palestinian media Quds News Network, around 20 air strikes were launched by Israel in the area where tens of thousands of Palestinians have been displaced in northern Gaza. They are injured, sick and neglected victims, most of whom are women and children.

Palestine Chronicle reported that around 20 Palestinians were killed and injured in this attack. The video circulating on social media X, formerly known as Twitter, shows the enormity of the bombing that occurred around the hospital.

According to the official Palestinian news agency WAFA, the bombing also caused serious damage to several hospital facilities.

When contacted by Tempo via short message, the Operational Manager of the Humanitarian Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C), Rima Manzanaris, said that his party was still looking into
“That's the information circulating. "Currently volunteers (at the Indonesian hospital in Gaza; ed) cannot be contacted," said Rima on Friday 10 November 2023.

Rima added that volunteers at the hospital could still be contacted at 21.00 WIB. "However, at 23.00 WIB we could no longer be contacted."

The Indonesian Hospital in Bayt Lahiya, North Gaza, Palestine, was built on 16,261 square meters of waqf land from Ismail Haniyeh. The social organization Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) became the intermediary for the realization of this hospital.

Quoted from the official MER-C website, the plan to build an Indonesian Hospital in Gaza was expressed to Palestinian Health Minister Bassim Naim on January 23 2009. At that time, MER-C said that the large amount of donations from Indonesia could be allocated for additional health facility needs.

Israel, so far, has killed more than 10,569 Palestinians in Gaza, including 4,324 children and 2,823 women, and injured 26,475 people. Reports from the Palestinian Ministry of Health and international organizations stated that the majority of those killed and injured were women and children.
