Knee pain while going up/down stairs is a common complaint and may not be due to any underlying knee condition. Many times, knee pain is due to poor mechanics or technique in going up/down stairs, squatting, lunging, running, walking, and/or exercising in general. Externally rotating the hip (Knees Out!) as you go up/down stairs will aid in eliminating this problem. In this video, Dr Wil demonstrates this technique in a way that you can practice and repeat at home.
