Macumba : Trance and Spiritual Healing - 1984

Director Madeline Richeport – This film, while a lot of fun, is an almost academic look at Brazillian voodoo ‘Macumba’. Don’t let the ‘academic’ label deter you tho – director Madeline Richeport was able to capture some amazing rituals. Better in almost every way than modern films on the topic, the film and narration do a wonderful job illuminating what is a highly complicated, but beautiful religion.
