Greek Wildfires - Blood-Red Sky Over Athens as 18 Found Dead

Smoke from wildfires near Athens turned the sky a vivid blood red. Fires have been ravaging parts of Greece since last week, causing widespread destruction.

Firefighters discovered the bodies of 18 people near the city of Alexandroupolis, in the northeast of the country. Its been reported that the dead may have been migrants, as the area is a popular route for those seeking to enter the EU from Turkey.

Gale force winds have complicated efforts to control the fires.

Romania sent 56 of its firefighters to assist Greek authorities.

EU officials blame climate change for the increasingly intense and frequent wildfires across Europe.
