After a two-hundred-year period of neutrality, Sweden now wants to become a member of NATO. Is it to protect itself against 'the new Hitler,' Vladimir Putin? Or is it being misled by the US and the UK? This final piece of the important two-part 'Sweden's Journey to NATO' shows how the country gets caught in a trap.

'Sweden's Journey to NATO' is created by the Swedish-British journalist and filmmaker Pelle Neroth Taylor, who recently had an extensive conversation with program host Flavio Pasquino about his two-part documentary.

This second part delves into the worrying situation in which the country has been maneuvered, under the influence of the United States and the United Kingdom. Their manipulations have placed Sweden squarely against Russia, pushing the country into the arms of NATO.

In his journalistic work, Taylor attempts to make the unspeakable discussable. The Swedish approach to NATO is an example of that. "Last year, there were elections, but it was not discussed during the campaign. The media didn't cover it either. Even though Sweden has a tradition of holding referendums on controversial topics, that is not the case now."

That's why Taylor made 'Sweden's Journey to NATO' to warn people about Swedish NATO membership. "I'm afraid that we'll soon read about Swedish coastal towns, just as we now read about Bachmoet in Ukraine."

According to the filmmaker, it's not too late. "Sweden's independence during the years of the pandemic - where it went against 'the consensus,' lost far fewer lives, and suffered much less economic damage - shows what the country is still capable of when it has the courage to chart its own course."
