New Epidemiological Evidence Examining the Relationship Between Dental Amalgam Fillings and Chronic Human Diseases: An Evaluation of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) Database | Mark Geier, MD, PhD & David A. Geier, BA

Learning Objectives:
1. Attendees will gain insights into the design and composition of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database.
2. Attendees will gain insights into the epidemiological relationship between dental amalgam filling surfaces and chronic human diseases.
3. Attendees will gain insights into future epidemiological modeling techniques to evaluate the potential chronic adverse health consequences of dental amalgam filling surfaces on human chronic diseases.

Mark R Geier has a MD and a PhD in genetics from the George Washington University. He is a Fellow of the American College of Epidemiology. Dr Geier has nearly 200 publications in academic journals and medical textbook chapters. He was previously a research scientist at the National Institutes of Health for 10 years. He was an assistant professor in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and an assistant research professor at the Uniformed School of the Health Science. Dr Geier was in the private practice of medicine for more than 33 years with medical offices across the United States. Dr Geier was invited to address the US State Department, Foreign Institute regarding contemporary genetics, the Institute of Medicine of the United States National Academy of Sciences on multiple occasions regarding vaccine safety and policy, and the Government Reform Committee of the United States House of Representatives on mercury in vaccines. He was also an accredited participant in the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee meetings of the United Nations Environmental Programme to help prepare a global legally binding instrument on mercury, the “Minimata Convention on Mercury”. He is currently the codirector and cofounder of the nonprofit Institute of Chronic Illnesses, Inc.

David A Geier is graduate of UMBC with a BA in Biology and a minor in History. He has undertaken graduate studies at the George Washington University and at the National Institutes of Health in biochemistry, immunology, and epidemiology. Mr Geier has more than 150 publications in academic journals and medical textbook chapters. Mr. Geier was invited to address the Institute of Medicine of the United States National Academy of Sciences on multiple occasions regarding vaccine safety and policy. He was also an accredited participant in the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee meetings of the United Nations Environmental Programme to help prepare a global legally binding instrument on mercury, the “Minimata Convention on Mercury”. Mr Geier is currently the co director and cofounder of the nonprofit Institute of Chronic Illnesses, Inc.
