The Alberta Living Wage Network has released its new living wage for Lethbridge. The group says the new living wage is $20.60 per hour for our city. That is an increase of 30 cents over the last year even after affordability measures were dished out by by the federal and provincial governments. Jaci Zalesak, Executive Director of the United Way for Lethbridge and South Western Alberta, says unfortunately some employers in our city are only paying 16 to 17 dollars an hour which makes it tougher for employees to make ends meet. The living wage is defined as an hourly wage a worker needs to earn in order to cover the basics such as rent, utilities and food.
