According to Curator, Marge Hastreiter,  the Iron Island Museum, has some restless spirits haunting the place. She says "we're talking about dozens of ghosts, from children all the way to adults." The building was donated to the museum seventeen years ago. Marge says "the building was donated and some of the furniture, but they never said anything about the place being haunted." Marge greets thousands of visitors each year and occasionally encounters a ghost. The one that scared her the most was "a shadow man with red eyes." Over the years the building was at various times a church and a funeral home. The museum was started mainly to celebrate the Lovejoy neighborhood, but Marge says that mostly the visitors want to hear the ghost stories. As the curator, Marge has to spend time in the building taking calls and booking tours, but says she really doesn't like to be in the building alone, adding "I very seldom come in here alone, when things started happening, I couldn't do it, my daughter Linda won't come in at all by herself'. The Iron Island Museum History and Hauntings tours continue year round. You can get more information at their website.
