At the beginning of the declared COVID pandemic, nurse Rebecca’s work slowed down. Many non-emergency surgeries were canceled, and those who required a procedure were subject to testing. When asked about the prevalence of fear within the confines of the hospital walls, Rebecca explains how both patients and staff struggled to find any sense of hope and optimism. After switching over to the emergency department, she was confronted with several heart-related injuries and overheard the medical director make a statement, along the lines of, ‘anybody who didn’t get the shot and gets COVID deserves to die.’ Catch the full interview in this video from the CHD Bus Stories page.
