Body and dash cam show stolen vehicle suspect run down officer during pursuit, passenger arrested

Newly-released police dash-cam video of a pursuit of a stolen car shows the thief striking an officer with the vehicle before the thief drove away.

But a teen passenger who got out of the car during the confrontation was taken into custody.

The incident happened in September, beginning on Coburg Road and ending in the 1300 block of Picard Road, where the road stops at a dead end.

The video shows the end of the pursuit, when the driver of the stolen car drives onto someone's front yard. The car stops momentarily, the teen passenger gets out, the car drives in reverse, an officer runs toward the car, which strikes the officer before driving

The officer was treated at a local hospital but was not seriously injured. The stolen car was later found abandoned. And the passenger was taken into custody.
