In a fiery exchange at Wednesday night's third Republican presidential primary debate, tensions between Nikki Haley and biotech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy reached a boiling point. The heated confrontation unfolded when Ramaswamy, known for his defense of the social media platform TikTok, invoked Haley's adult daughter to make a point about the app.
Haley, visibly enraged, had previously criticized Ramaswamy's support for TikTok, echoing concerns raised by some Republican lawmakers who allege that the app is a tool used by the Chinese Communist Party for spying on Americans. During the second debate on September 27, Haley remarked, "TikTok is one of the most dangerous social media apps that we could have. And ... honestly, every time I hear you, I feel a little bit dumber for what you say."
During Wednesday's debate, conservative radio talk show host and moderator Hugh Hewitt asked Ramaswamy about his ability to advocate for banning TikTok despite his own use of the platform during the campaign. In response, Ramaswamy turned the tables on Haley, bringing up her daughter's use of TikTok.
