SEC Opens Application Window for Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Exchange Traded Funds
The U. S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has opened the application window for Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) focused on blockchain and cryptocurrency assets. Investment advisors have until November 17th, 2022 to submit filings for cryptocurrency ETFs to the SEC. This could pave the way for the eventual approval of the first U. . Bitcoin ETF, with firms like BlackRock's iShares division expected to file applications. While the SEC has yet to approve a cryptocurrency ETF due to concerns around market manipulation and security, this move indicates the regulator may be more open to considering such products going forward. The approval of a cryptocurrency ETF would make it easier for mainstream investors to gain exposure to digital assets through traditional brokerages.
