The Burden of Israel (Lyrics in the Description)

Hear, O Israel,
You stiff-necked sons of Belial,
A new word I write unto you, so take heed.
Do you remember when I cast you out of my land
In the days of the temple,
And for centuries you suffered under the heathens’ heel?
And then you return unto my land,
But do not turn again to me,
And when I search inside your heart,
I find there is no fear for me.

A new commandment I give thee!
Thus saith the Lord; Thus saith the Lord;
Thou shalt not commit genocide.
Thou shalt not burn children while they sleep.
And even if some others do, you must trust in me;
Thou shalt not.

Give ear, O Israel,
Do you think you can escape from the word of the Lord?
(Ha ha ha)
Beware lest ye be like the heathen I destroyed before thee.
Burning up the children in the fires to Moloch;
Seething the calf in his mother’s milk;
I told you before, so you’d better believe.
The measure you will get
Is the measure that you mete,
And the blood you shed to save yourselves
Will never bring you peace.

I swear and I decree!
Thus saith the Lord; Thus saith the Lord;
Thou shalt not commit genocide.
Thou shalt not crush mothers while they weep.
And you should know better by now, so why must I repeat:
Thou shalt not?

Now, come on, Israel,
Don’t you think that I know how you feel?
I’m sending this word unto you by my enemy.
‘Cause this one-balled son-of-a-bitch heathen,
That’s singing my words to you,
Well, he’s a son of the dogs that nailed my boy to a tree.
And revenge belongs to me,
And the ransom to make free,
And if blood must pay for blood,
Then that will all belong to me!

Obey and be redeemed!
Thus saith the Lord; Thus saith the Lord;
Thou shalt not commit genocide.
Thou shalt not kill fathers in the streets
And even when your father’s killed, believe and you’ll see
And even when your mother’s slain, trust always in me.
And even when your children burn, they will come to me,
But thou shalt not, thou shalt not, thou shalt not.
