Hear From Arizona House Representative Michael Carbone

Guest: Michael Carbone
"I was born Michael Carbone to a single mom who was battling her own demons. I never really knew my biological dad. When I was two, she remarried Christer Jorudd, who adopted me at the time, and for a while I had a complete family. When I was in second grade they divorced, and my grandparents took me in and looked after me. They did their best to teach me right from wrong, but a couple of years later my mom remarried again and I moved back in with her and her new husband. What remained of my childhood became physically and mentally challenging, and I eventually moved out (and back in with my grandparents) when I was in high school.

As a result of my own upbringing, I’ve always placed special emphasis on family, faith, roots, and making sure that people in my own family know they matter to me. Growing up the way I did wasn’t easy, and I made mistakes along the way. I got in trouble, was charged with a DUI when I was 19 years old, but God was looking out for me and everyone else, and I made it to adulthood in one piece – wiser, and very aware of the responsibilities I would have."

Michael Carbone represents Legislative District 25, which includes Yuma County and the western part of Maricopa County. It is one of largest agriculture districts in Arizona and produces 90% of America’s leafy greens, along with being home to farming, dairy, cotton, and one of the largest egg producers in the world. He also represents the largest nuclear reactor in the United States which produces a majority of the state’s electricity and excess power that is sold to California. In addition to his district, he also serves the Yuma Proving Grounds U.S. Marine Base which just opened a low level space launching pad, the Kore Power Lithium Ion Battery Plant, and Fortescue’s Hydrogen Plant.

Michael Carbone was born to a single mom and was raised by his grandparents. As a result of his upbringing, he has always placed a special emphasis on family, faith, and roots.
He is a husband, a dad, a small business owner, and someone who has been involved in education issues for years. Originally from Illinois, he was active in local politics and fought for limited government, low taxes, and parental rights.

Carbone and his wife moved to Arizona for a better quality of life and to give their 4 children an opportunity to live the American Dream. He has previous experience in business and education, and knows how to craft balanced budgets. He values and recognizes how local industries like ranching and agriculture are important to our state’s economy. Michael, in his free time, enjoys fishing, hunting, hiking, and spending time with his wife, four children, and his grandson..
