Dumb Money is A Mediocre, Uninspired David and Goliath Story (That's Still A Lot of Fun)

Craig Gillespie, of I, Tonya and Cruella fame, is a reliable filmmaker who never really achieves anything noteworthy. He continues this trend with his latest film, Dumb Money. I was a little late to the party in watching it and walked away thinking this was completely disposable.

Paul Dano is great as Keith Gill, aka Roaring Kitty, a down on his luck analyst who sees great value in GameStop stock and through his eccentric personality, builds a movement online resulting in the 2021 short squeeze we all remember.

There’s nothing here that demands your attention, though, so if you’re looking for something light to watch on a weekday then Dumb Money could be the right film for you. Then again, you could also rewatch a classic film which would probably be far more enjoyable. Whatever mate.
