Frank Dunning is a World War 2 veteran, from the Royal Artillery's 135th Field Regiment. The division was deployed to Fortress Singapore during WWII, where they held out against the Japanese until the Fall of Singapore. Resulting in the largest British surrender in history. From there, Frank and his fellow prisoners of war were sent to camps, and later used by Japan as slave labor on the Burma Railway. This also become known as the "Death Railway" and claimed the lives of many Allied POWs and civilians.

Finding certain "Film Canisters" hidden throughout the game will unlock World War 2 veteran interviews, that the developers put together. Each one relating to the mission it can be found in. Providing real stories from the men who lived through the events depicted in Medal of Honor: Rising Sun.
