Supreme Court will not hear challenge to Donald Trump's ballot eligibility.

A longshot Republican presidential candidate, John Anthony Castro, has filed a lawsuit challenging the eligibility of former President Donald Trump to appear on the 2024 presidential ballot. The lawsuit cites Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which bars anyone who has "engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the United States" from holding office. The Supreme Court has declined to hear the case, but similar lawsuits are pending in other states.

In a separate decision, the Supreme Court rejected an appeal from Trump's former attorney, John Eastman, to block the release of his emails to congressional investigators. Justice Clarence Thomas recused himself from the case.
