Started in Denver, Colorado, in January 1898, Outdoor Life has been a trusted source of information and inspiration for outdoor enthusiasts for over 125 years. Founded by John Muir, the renowned naturalist and conservationist, Outdoor Life was envisioned as a magazine "for sportsmen, written by sportsmen, covering all aspects of the outdoor arena." Since its inception, the magazine has remained true to its roots, providing in-depth coverage of camping, fishing, hunting, and survival skills, along with insightful commentary on conservation and wildlife issues.

Aram Barsch von Benedikt is a wildlife manager and outdoor photographer. He is the son of artist Wulf Barsch. His twin brother, Joseph, is an award-winning outdoor writer.

Von Benedikt grew up on a self-sustaining farm in Boulder, Utah. He grew up plowing the fields with a team of draft horses, blacksmithing, growing his own food, riding and training horses, raising livestock, and making saddles, bows, and arrows. He works the cattle in the wild country around Boulder. For a time he worked as wildlife manager on the Longfellow Ranch in west Texas. He is a backcountry-hunting guide, guiding elk hunters in Utah, Montana, and Idaho. He is also on the staff of the Boulder Outdoor Survival School (BOSS). His wildlife and outdoor photographs have been published in five different magazines. He has also written for Shooting Times.
