President Kimberly Andrews Espy says the new facility will provide better spaces and more opportunities for students and help the Detroit community with legal services. The university began pushing for the funding in October of 2022 and officials testified before the Joint Capital Outlay Subcommittee earlier this year. The funding is the largest for Wayne State in nearly 30-years.
