Everyone knows the story behind the discovery of natural selection. Charles Darwin set sail to the Galapagos, found some finches and boom just like that the puzzle was solved.

Well, unfortunately, it's a bit more complicated than that.

The discovery of evolution wasn't a simple process and it turned into a race to discover the evolution and claim credit for the discovery.

While the discovery of evolution was centered around the Galapagos archipelago, the race really began half a world away on a different archipelago (the Malay archipelago) and with a different man entirely (Alfred Russel Wallace).
