A Black Skimmer Baby Day One

Recorded on 6-4-2023:
The first chick hatched today on Redington Shores. This evening Mom is protecting it as it rests peacefully in the nest. Suddenly, Dad lands bringing the young bird a meal and the action begins. The chick comes out from under Mom but before it can be fed, Dad chases away another adult that came too close to their scrape. Now that the danger has passed, the hungry chick wabbles to Dad and gobbles down its dinner.
