The protestors from the Just Stop Oil movement vehemently shattered the glass surrounding a priceless painting at the National Gallery in London, using hammers as their powerful tool of expression.

Two individuals accessed Room 30 of the National Gallery around 11am this morning, on November 6th, 2023.

Velázquez's masterpiece, The Toilet of Venus (also known as 'The Rokeby Venus'), was seemingly struck by the pair using emergency rescue hammers. In response to this alarming incident, the room was swiftly evacuated and the authorities were promptly notified. Law enforcement officers have since arrived at the location to handle the situation.

Authorities have taken two individuals into custody, resulting in a significant breakthrough. In order to glean further insights, the artwork is currently being withdrawn from public view and will undergo meticulous examination by esteemed Conservators.
