The British Royal Air Force bombards Essen, Germany as the Sullivan mother christens a new navy ship named after her five fallen sons. All this and plenty more World War II footage in this United News production, one of thousands of films at the National Archives.

In part 1, Royal Air Force (RAF) Lancaster bombers strike Essen, Germany. In part 2, the destroyer Sullivan and two destroyer escorts are launched. In part 3, tanks are tested over a tank obstacle course. In part 4, Madame Chiang Kai-shek speaks in the Hollywood Bowl. It shows Mary Pickford and Norma Shearer. In part 5, an army rescue squad uses a life boat to rescue downed airmen. In part 6, paratroopers jump in a practice mission carrying their mascots (Boxer pups). In part 7, Canadian artillery units practice firing in snowy terrain. Troops and tanks are loaded on ships and the convoy sails.
