The mission begins in a submarine. Your team is being sent to rescue prisoner number “627” from the Verdansk Prison. Your team ascends from the water and rappels up the prison killing any guards you spot along the way.
Then after turning on your night vision you make your way down some scaffolding and create a distraction that causes your team to go deeper into the prison. Once in there you need to fight your way to the main prison corridor where you then turn off the lights and rappel down to the bottom floor.
Once there you need to make your way to a jail cell door and blow it open. Prisoner 627 is Makarov and you’re breaking him out of the Gulag. you have to fight your way out of the gulag by going through locker rooms then on an elevator. You then get a dialogue option with Makarov choose "Neither".
Once you leave the elevator you’re back in the prison courtyard where you’ll need to make a quick exit away. There will be a prison tower shooting you and a ton of enemies on the ground so just avoid gunfire and proceed forward. Once you make it to the prison drawbridge, you’ll be ambushed by a helicopter.
Makarov will open a door you’ll need to go through that leads you to the side of the landscape. Go to the end of the path and jump into the water. There will be a cutscene where you’ll climb into a boat and Makarov will help you up. Your team will then escape with Makarov intact.
