This video by https://www.vprobroadcast.com (VPRO Broadcast of Netherlands) investigates how multinational companies, especially Apple, uses tax havens to pay significantly less taxes compared to a blue-collar worker. In 2022, an average worker paid 24.8 % in taxes in USA.
In 2017, corporate tax in US was lowered to 21% from 35%.
In 2023, 45% of Apple sales were in US.
Apple paid 1.9 % tax for international sales in 2013 when the documentary was filmed.
In essence, Apple pays less than 12 % in taxes compared to an average worker paying 25%. Apple's revenue in 2022 was 394.33 billion meaning Apple avoided 47.32 billion in taxes while an ordinary McDonald's employee had to pay the whole 25%.
