It has not been a good 3 years for Trudeau - with a steady decline in popularity backed by a steady trail of embarrassment and ineptitude. And with elections on the horizon they don't want to be seen near him.

Not that they minded him being toxic to the country, but when you become toxic to the liberals chances of re-election, it's time to go.
