Dinosaurs, which means "terrible lizards," were a diverse group of reptiles that lived millions of years ago during the Mesozoic Era. They roamed the Earth for over 180 million years, from the Late Triassic period to the end of the Cretaceous period. Dinosaurs came in various shapes and sizes, from small, bird-like creatures to enormous, long-necked herbivores and fearsome carnivorous predators.
These ancient creatures are known for their unique characteristics, including large size, bipedal or quadrupedal locomotion, and some even had feathers. Scientists have classified dinosaurs into two main groups: Saurischia (lizard-hipped) and Ornithischia (bird-hipped) based on the structure of their hip bones.
