City of Independence breaks ground on new communications center

Money from a public safety sales tax Independence voters passed in 2004 and renewed in 2015 is going towards the new communications center for 911 dispatchers. Monday city leaders broke ground on the property near the Independence Utility Center on East 23rd Street.
